You may have noticed a golf cart traveling through the parking lot at Shawnee Medical Center Clinic. While some may mistake the sight for a lost golfer, the true story begins in May of 1994.

Amidst construction of the new building for the Clinic, administration decided to offer a shuttle service for all SMCC patients, making it easier for them to get from their vehicles to the doors. Since so many patients expressed appreciation and took advantage of the shuttle, the golf cart is still at full speed today. Three dedicated drivers, Vell, Leonard and Ron alternate days to offer this free service.

So, the next time you're at SMCC, don't worry about finding a parking space close to the door. One of the three parking lot golf cart drivers will come by to shuttle you to and from the building. And don't be surprised if they throw in a smile or two along the way!
